The hard part of a gift for him is rarely the budget. It is guessing what he will actually use. So this list is sorted by habit, not by price: the gamer, the desk that is mostly cables, the coffee drinker, the commute, reading in bed. Every pick has its measurements, its price, and — where it matters — who should skip it.
Everything here is solid wood, never veneer over particleboard, and every product page lists the millimetres, so nothing arrives a different size from what you pictured.

For the gamer: a headphone and controller stand ($115)
Three places to put things down on one upright. The headset hangs on a curved walnut yoke, 99 mm wide, cut to the curve of a headband so the weight spreads across the band instead of creasing one spot. The controller sits in a walnut cradle that rides in a slot cut through a flat plate of matte black steel — it slides 160 mm, so it suits a small controller or a large one. Keys and earbuds go in the 200 × 122 mm walnut tray at the foot.
The stand is 335 mm (13.2 in) tall and that height is fixed; the cradle is the part that moves. It arrives assembled. No headset, no controller.
Skip it if his headset lives on a hook under the desk. This one needs about 200 × 122 mm of free desk top.
For the desk that is mostly cables: a stacking cable box ($149)
Four open frames of solid wutan wood and a solid tray on top. Each frame is 34 mm tall and the pieces are held square by magnets in the corners, not screws — take a frame out and the box gets shorter, add one and it gets taller. With all four it stands about 170 mm (6.7 in) on a 280 × 160 mm (11.0 × 6.3 in) footprint.
Every frame has a long cable slot through its long side and through its end, and the tray has a square notch at each corner, so a charging cable can come up and over the rim without being pinched. The tray is a usable surface — a phone, a remote, a pair of glasses. It is sized for a standard power strip; the power strip and cables are not included.
Skip it if his power strip is longer than the box. Measure it, end caps included, before you order.
For the phone that is a second screen: a magnetic walnut stand ($85)
Turned from a single piece of black walnut: 70 mm across the foot, 140 mm to the top of the head. The 58 mm magnetic head sits on a ball joint, so it turns a full circle and tilts about 300° front to back — portrait for messages, landscape for a video, without picking the stand up. A layer of soft silicone sits over the magnet, so the phone rests on silicone rather than bare metal.
A phone with built-in magnets holds against the head directly. For one without, an adhesive magnet ring comes in the box — it goes on the back of the phone or inside the case.
For the reader, the cook, or the laptop: a book & laptop stand ($169)
The board is 390 × 280 mm (15.4 × 11.0 in) of solid black walnut or solid cherry — wide enough for an open hardcover, a cookbook, a tablet, or a laptop up to 16 inches. A lip along the bottom catches the front edge, and the page clips slide sideways to fit the book. Two hinged aluminium arms set the height anywhere from 180 to 280 mm, and a turntable under the strut lets the whole stand swing toward someone across the table.
One honest detail: the small folding section at the foot has a plywood core, because a hinge point that thin needs to stay flat. Everything you rest a book on is solid wood.
For the coffee drinker: a walnut canister with two aluminium lids ($55 / $69)
Beans go flat from oxygen more than from damp, so this canister puts two barriers between them and the air. An aluminium inner lid drops down inside a machined aluminium neck and seats there; a plain outer cap closes over the whole thing. The walnut body is opaque, so the beans are out of the light as well.
Two heights on the same diameter: Large, Ø 72 × 140 mm ($69), and Small, Ø 72 × 80 mm ($55). They sit together and take the same shelf depth — one for the bag he is drinking now, one for a decaf or a single origin.
For the commute: a cherry and steel vent diffuser ($45)
Ø 43 mm and 50 mm tall. The oil goes on a felt pad inside a brushed stainless steel cup; the cherry is a sleeve and a lid around it, so nothing porous soaks up last month's scent. A stainless spring clip with soft white silicone tips grips a horizontal vent blade, and moving air carries the scent — nothing to plug in. Essential oil is not included.
Skip it if his car has no horizontal vent blades to clip to.
For reading in bed: two rechargeable wood lamps ($65–$99)
The mushroom lamp has a wutan-wood cap with maple dots let into it and sanded flush, on a beech stem — three woods, no paint. Tall is 170 mm ($79), short is 100 mm ($65). A tap turns it on and off; press and hold to dim. 5 W LED, about 4 hours on a charge, USB-C.
The lighthouse is a white ash tower and roof with black walnut rings and door, 190 × 75 mm. One touch dot steps through three light tones — warm, natural, white — and a long press dims it smoothly. 3 W LED, about 4 hours on a charge, USB-C. $99.
Both come with the charging cable.
