One dot on the front of the tower does everything. Tap it for on and off, and to step through three light tones — warm, natural and white. Press and hold, and it dims smoothly, anywhere between full and nearly out. No app, no remote, no switch on a cable.

The light comes off the whole frosted band rather than a point you can see the LED in, and it does not flicker — which is what makes it usable for a child getting up at night or for reading in bed.
