The zip pouch isn't working.
You know the one. Everything goes in together, and by the time you land, two chains are knotted, an earring back is gone, and a ring is loose in the bottom seam. This is a solid walnut case with a brass clasp, hooks for the chains and rolls for the rings — built so the pieces arrive the way they went in.
Three things a travel case has to get right
It has to stay shut. A brushed brass clasp, not a zip and not friction. In a suitcase that gets thrown around, a case that pops open is worse than no case at all.
Chains have to hang, not lie flat. There are necklace hooks in the lid. A chain fastened and hung arrives untangled; a chain coiled in a pouch does not. This is the single biggest difference between a jewelry case and a bag.
Pairs have to stay paired. Ring rolls hold bands together instead of letting them roll loose, and the compartments keep stud backs from wandering off into a corner.
Which size?
Small — two sections: necklace hooks in the lid, ring rolls and a pocket below. This is the weekend case, or the everyday edit that lives on the nightstand.
Large — over three inches longer and nearly three inches wider, with a removable divider, multiple compartments, ring rolls, a bracelet and watch well, and a full row of necklace hooks. This is the two-week trip, or the case that holds a whole collection.
Rule of thumb: if you travel with a watch, take the Large.
How it arrives
Checked and packed by hand. The Small arrives in a rigid keepsake gift box — ready to give, no wrapping needed. The Large is bigger than our gift box, so it ships in protective packaging instead.

Hand-finished natural wood — grain, color and markings vary slightly from piece to piece. That variation is the material, not a flaw. Jewelry shown in the photos is not included.
Is this really solid wood?
Yes. A lot of "wood" jewelry cases in this price range are MDF or particleboard with a thin wood skin. That construction is more prone to chipping at the corners than solid wood.
The tell is the corner: veneer shows a seam line where the wood layer meets the substrate, and solid wood doesn't. This is solid black walnut — the grain runs through the corner, not across it, and you can check that the day it arrives.

Caring for walnut
A soft dry cloth for dust, and a spot out of direct sun and away from heating vents. Twice a year, a thin coat of beeswax polish or food-grade mineral oil rubbed in with the grain keeps the finish from drying out.
