Three frames that stack, and a solid tray on top.

Each frame is an open ring of solid wood — four rails, four corners, nothing across the top and nothing across the bottom. Stack the three and you get one open space about 280 × 160 mm, with no shelf and no divider in the way. Set it down over a power strip and the cable nest, run the leads out through the slots, and the mess is gone.

The top is closed, so it is a surface

The tray on top is solid wood with a low rim around it — a phone, a remote or a pair of glasses can live there. A square notch is cut through the rim at each corner, so a charging cable comes up out of the box and over the edge without being pinched.

It is still open underneath and open at every slot, so air keeps moving through it. The tray closes the top; it does not seal the box.

Nothing screws together and nothing hinges. Magnets set into the corners pull each piece square against the one below, so the stack lines up by itself — lift the tray off to reach a plug and drop it back on.

  • It is often sold as "ebony" or "black sandalwood". It is neither, and we are not going to call it that.
